Overview GPS tracking

GPS TRACKING SYSTEMS
GPS tracking system by LandAirSea Systems, Inc. has been a leader at the forefront of GPS tracking technologies since 1994. LandAirSea Systems, Inc. is now the home of the world’s most powerfully engineered GPS tracking equipment. All GPS tracking systems by LandAirSea have undergone extensive engineering and testing, both in the lab and in the field. The GPS tracking capabilities of LandAirSea systems are equipped to determine the location of the GPS tracking device within 2.5 meters. This GPS tracking system is currently used daily by thousands of civilians, as well as by government and law enforcement agencies. LandAirSea Systems, Inc is the premier provider of GPS tracking systems in the surveillance technology industry.
What is GPS Tracking?
A GPS tracking unit is a device that uses the Global Positioning System to determine the precise location of a vehicle, person, or other asset to which it is attached and to record the position of the asset at regular intervals. With LandAirSea GPS systems, it records not only position, but also velocity, duration of time that the object remains stationary, direction etc. There are many uses for a GPS tracker, including:
Vehicle tracking
Fleet tracking
Asset tracking
Teen tracking
Mapping tracks
With LandAirSea GPS Systems,s any person or vehicle can be tracked using our various tracking devices. All LandAirSea GPS software is fully compatible with Google Earth Software and maps the GPS coordinates of the person or vehicle accurately. GPS maps are displayed clearly with comprehensive information.
GPS tracking is very popular for many
different applications
For a correct understanding it is important to know that any GPS tracking device consists of at least two different "blocks". First, of course, a GPS receiver. Second a wireless modem or a cell phone, that allows for the transfer of location information from the device to the person who wants to know this information.
In the following article "GPS tracking explained" we investigate the different possibilities.
From the start of our website in 2003 we knew LandAirSea. Now they have rebuilt their website and this makes it clear for every visitor that LandAirSea really does GPS Tracking at all levels. We recommend their new website, their products, and their information to our readers.

GPS car tracking is one of the oldest tracking applications, as the dimensions and weight of the devices are less critical for installation in a car. On our "GPS car tracking" page we describe several different types.
One of our favorite GPS tracking applications is GPS Wildlife Tracking. On our "GPS wildlife tracking" page there are examples of collars for the biggest mammals to very small devices for birds.
"Personal GPS locators" operate on the same principle, but most have a Panic Button and/or some large buttons to initiate a voice communication with pre-programmed phone numbers. And for these locators the weight and dimensions are really important.
"Teen car tracking" devices are the same as ordinary car tracking devices, but often they do not only report the location, but also other parameters such as speed and acceleration/deceleration.
Weight and dimensions are of extreme importance for "Pet tracking" devices. This is probably the reason why we did not discover any tracking devices for cats yet.
Always the same principle, but a category on its own, are "GPS Offender tracking" devices. They are often worn on an ankle bracelet. Device and bracelet must be tamper-proof.
Another very special tracking category and often mandatory is "Marine tracking". Contact with land-based stations can only be guaranteed via "Communication Satellites". For professional boaters there is a lot that is controlled in the "Maritime Regulations".
With more and more cell phones equipped with GPS, we also see more special tracking solutions for GPS phones. What we called "Other GPS tracking" shows some of them.
Different from blackbox GPS tracking
Not exactly Do-it-yourself GPS tracking, but still different from the classical approaches.

TrackFinder
TrackFinder is an GPS tracking application for the last generation of the smartphone Treo by PalmOne ( Treo 600 and Treo 650) and it is able to work with most GSM-GPRS-GPS engines sold today.
It is able to receive alarms and to locate a vehicle or an individual, equipped with a GSM-GPRS-GPS remote unit and shows the position on a street level map.
TrackFinder can request the location of the device or it can receive the coordinates after an alarm is triggerred.
The program works with GPS-GSM-GPRS modems from Falcom, ENAiKOON, DPS-Promatic, Flextrac, KFT , Vectronic and others.
Perdiemco Location & Tracking (PLT)
Perdiemco Location & Tracking (PLT) software allows you to track your trip and let others locate and follow you online. You set the passcodes so only those that you want can see your trip. You can also take pictures or leave messages with your pda or phone and put them online for others to see.
You can set zones for tracking (with alerts) too. These are "boxes" you create. You can track inside a zone or be alerted when someone enters or leaves a zone. PLT offers privacy and 'a need to know', so you can turn off anyone's ability to locate you at anytime. PLT allows you to access and use your GPS on-the-fly from any location connected to the Internet. Get reliable, convenient and secure access to GPS information from home or on the road.

Data sent to the company's map server is tagged with a PIN password, and only those with the PIN can view the data. PINs can be changed at any time to make location data unavailable. The PLT software and service is free for personal use. It requires a Windows Mobile device with GPS and a wireless data connection.
